Removing Blackheads - Do It The Easy Way

Acne is a debilitating problem that many people, (particularly young people) face today and causes anger, frustration, and feelings of low esteem. Removing Blackheads, (one of the major manifestations of Acne), is key to the eradication of many types of Acne, and is what we are going to explore in this article.
You should understand that acne and blackheads are caused by a buildup of excess oil in the sebaceous glands that are located right underneath the skin. It is a myth that acne is caused by uncleanliness.
The medical term for a blackhead is an open comedo. The true color of an open comedo is yellow, but since they often form in clogged hair follicles, they take on a black color and have earned the name of blackheads. Removing these blackheads is not always necessary as sometimes they clear up and go away all on their own.
Many times, they become severe or chronic, and then removing blackheads is necessary. There are different means of removing them and some of those are natural remedies.
Firstly, adopt a daily regime of washing the affected area in natural vegetable glycerin soap or a natural skin-cleansing agent from the health store. Every second day, you should use a gentle, natural facial scrub. Again, these can be bought OTC (over the counter) at most good health stores.
Heat and steam are useful when removing blackheads because they cause the pores of your skin to open up so debris can escape. For that reason, a good time to do your facial cleaning routine is after you have taken a warm shower and your pores are open. You can also give yourself a steam facial a couple of times a week by holding your face over a bowl of steaming water. Drape a towel over your head and the bowl to help direct the steam to your face. Be careful not to burn your delicate skin on the hot water or the bowl. If you have access to sauna, it can be very beneficial and help in removing blackheads.
Create a natural lotion to combat blackheads. Combine two parts jojoba oil, one part lavender oil, and one part rose hip seed oil and apply it to your face. The rose hip oil and jojoba oil work together for removing blackheads and the lavender oil fights infections and reduces inflammation.
Squeezing blackheads should be avoided as this can lead to heavy scarring unless done professionally.
You can now also buy something called a comedo extractor or blackhead strip. This is rather like a hair-waxing strip. You simply apply it to the skin, leave it in place for ten minutes, and then pull it off taking the blackheads with it. Two problems. It may cause scarring, and it does nothing to cure the root cause, namely the excessive build up of sebaceous oil.
It is best to try natural methods of removing blackheads first so you can minimize the risk of causing permanent scars on the delicate skin of your face. In many cases, the natural methods work just as well if not better than treatments that are more dangerous do anyway. Learn more about the natural treatments available so you can rid yourself of blackheads for good.
