Acne Diet Development: Creating the Diet that is Right for Your Skin and Your Stomach
Posted by acnetips
An acne diet sounds like a wonderful idea. Most importantly, who hasn’t heard that eating chocolate gives you zits? Just about everyone has. So it doesn’t seem so crazy that by watching what you eat could prevent a break out.
But, an acne diet is a very hard thing to establish. It is highly personal and based on your body’s unique responses to food. Your advancement will mostly be by trial and error and not all by guidelines. Make sure you are keeping an eye on your skin. Write it all down. You could even take pictures a few times a week. When your skin clears, continue on the diet you were on at the time.
Here are some guidelines to get you started on an acne diet:
1. Take in a lot more protein. Many dermatologists think that protein intake is related to clear skin. This is because protein contains an enzyme that limits the production of oil. Oily skin is very vulnerable to breakouts.
2. Carbohydrates are not good. You do not need to cut out carbs completely. However, you do need to limit them to about 40 percent of your diet. This is because carbohydrates can stimulate oil production. For this reason common knowledge indicates that junk food causes acne. But actually junk food just is pretty high in carbs.
3. Drink green tea. If you can, drink real green tea. The best type of green tea is the kind that you brew. However, if you really don’t like it, then try the natural green tea drinks. Green tea will limit the creation of androgen. Androgen is a hormone that will wreak havoc on your skin.
4. You must restrict the amount of salt you take in. Salt usually contains iodine. Which is why table salt is sometimes called “iodized salt.” Iodine is a major inflammatory agent in those with acne.
While watching what you eat, you should also be very careful with what you put on your face. If you currently have acne, you are more aware than most of what is contained in your beauty products. Use oil free moisturizers and organic skin care products. These are the least likely to irritate your skin. Consider switching over to mineral makeup. If you want to enhance your acne diet and reduce breakouts, you may want to try mineral makeup.
